Ava is One!

As a natural light photographer, I tend to get a little anxious when I wake up to super dark storm clouds, particularly if the session scheduled to take place is at a clients' home that I've never been to. During the drive over, I had flashbacks to big sister Natalie's one-year session at their previous home, which was on an equally dreary day and left us with about 4' around a small window to work with. I must point out that Natalie's portraits turned out beautifully as would sweet miss Ava's, but limited lighting/space can present it's challenges in terms of variation. Well, you can't even begin to imagine my excitement when I immediately spotted their entire wall of floor to ceiling (retractable!) windows just steps away from Lake Washington. The entire room was filled with the most beautiful, diffused natural light bouncing off of the water and into the home, like a massive softbox. Between the lighting and the ridiculously photogenic miss Ava (clearly there is no shortage of good looks in this family!), this session was a photographers dream come true!
